Acevo prepares to take over Impact Coalition

Director Richard Marsh to leave charity transparency campaign

Chief executives body Acevo will take over the running of the Impact Coalition in the next few weeks.

The coalition, which works to increase public trust in charities and has been based at the Institute of Fundraising since 2007, will move to Acevo's office and be run by staff at the organisation.

Richard Marsh, director of the Impact Coalition and its only employee, will leave his post with immediate effect. He will continue to work with the coalition on a consultancy basis during the move, which is expected to take place in late May or early June.

Seb Elsworth, head of strategy at Acevo, said: "We will be seeking the views of the steering group and the members on how to effect a real change in the transparency and accountability of charities. We will then look at the resources necessary to support the coalition."

Lindsay Boswell, chief executive of the Institute of Fundraising, said that having funded the coalition for two years the organisation had been looking to other sector bodies to support it.

"It makes clear strategic sense to ask Acevo to bring chief executives closer to this agenda," he said. "This has the potential to elevate Impact's work."

Marsh said he hoped Acevo's involvement would help to broaden the coalition's appeal and encourage charity chief executives to make accountability and transparency part of their strategic agenda.

Sector bodies the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association, the Charity Finance Directors' Group and the Charities Aid Foundation stepped in last month to fund Impact after the Institute of Fundraising announced it would reduce its grant to the coalition.
