ActionAid has hired a specialist ‘social media agency' for the first time to help it influence bloggers and find out how people on social networking sites talk about its causes.
The international development charity joins Refuge and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation on the client list of We Are Social. The agency, which the charity hired after a three-way pitch, will work primarily on ActionAid's HungerFREE campaign, which has the aim of halving world hunger by 2015.
Joanna Juber, digital engagement manager at ActionAid, said: "We want to carry out an audit of existing online conversations and find out where we fit in.
"We will be using the agency's research to put together a plan of action, and we expect to be able to measure the impact that work has."
We Are Social describes itself as a ‘conversation agency', and has recently hired digital charity expert Simon Collister to boost its portfolio of charity clients.
