We are advisers, tax body states

The Charities' Tax Reform Group has changed its name to the Charity Tax Group in order to emphasise its advisory role. The decision was agreed at the organisation's AGM last week.

"This is about reflecting what we do more accurately," said Mike Parkinson, chair of the CTG. "We want to help charities with their tax queries as well as being focused on the need for reform."

The CTG will continue to lobby on issues such as VAT, the relaxation of rules on charity trading and the extension of tax relief to gifts of property, as well as shares.
