Aids charity to join forces with Healthy Gay Living Centre

The Terrence Higgins Trust is set to merge with the Healthy Gay Living Centre in October in a move to widen provision of services to the gay community.

The Healthy Gay Living Centre has a holistic approach towards promoting the sexual health of the gay community. Apart from running its centre in London, it has also been involved in broader projects such as linking with the police concerning instances of homophobic abuse.

The developments from the trust come as a response to changes in the NHS and the implementation of the National Strategy for Sexual Health.

"After the merger, we will look at our role within the gay and lesbian community and how to use existing centres to work on healthy living issues,

said Colin Dixon, director of national services.

All existing staff at both organisations will be retained.
