Amicus to publish guidelines on fair treatment of staff

The trade union Amicus is to publish a charter on fair treatment of employees and volunteers in not-for-profit organisations.

The charter covers areas such as human resource policies, budgeting for staff benefits such as pensions and maternity leave cover, training and health and safety.

It will be launched by Amicus' Parliamentary committee in the summer and sent to MPs, local councillors, and voluntary sector managers.

Chris Ball, voluntary sector secretary of Amicus, said the charter was intended to fill "the big glaring gap" in the Compact.
