Andy Hillier has been appointed editor of Third Sector.
He initially joined Third Sector in 2002 and later went on to work for Children & Young People Now, rising to become deputy editor of the title. He rejoined Third Sector as managing editor in 2011.
During his time at Third Sector, Hillier has interviewed some of the leading figures in the charity sector and carried out investigations into issues including senior executive pay in charities.
He has been acting editor of the title since Stephen Cook retired as editor in March. Cook edited the title for 12 years and continues to remain involved as contributing editor.
Angela Hughes, associate publisher of Third Sector, said: "I am delighted that Andy will be at the helm to steer Third Sector through the next stage of its journey. He has a great passion and deep knowledge of the charity sector and is keen to explore how we can increase our engagement with the sector. Congratulations to Andy on a well-deserved promotion. I am excited about what the future holds for Third Sector."
Hillier said: "It is a real privilege to be appointed editor of Third Sector. Under Stephen’s leadership, Third Sector has become the leading publication for the charity sector and developed an enviable reputation for independent journalism. I hope to preserve that tradition but also ensure that it keeps pace in the fast-changing environment charities now face."
