Organisation: Horder Healthcare

Horder Healthcare is a healthcare service provider that offers orthopaedic and musculoskeletal treatment and care.
Format and audience
The charity's annual review is sent to more than 1,800 stakeholders, including NHS organisations, healthcare professionals, charities and patient bodies, and to staff and volunteers.
Design and content
The size of the report was reduced to A5 this year to make it easier to read. The charity stripped out unnecessary information that it felt detracted from its core messages. It did not use any stock photography, preferring to feature real people.
Key quotes and facts were enlarged to stand out to readers flicking through the report.
It also included quotes from government reports and national publications to set its achievements in a broader context.
Rather than list multiple figures under financial information, Horder Healthcare reduced its accounts to four key sentences. It felt that limiting the financial information in this way made the charity's situation clear. However, some readers might prefer more information.
The use of its own photography helps to demonstrate what the charity does. Simple fonts and bright colours give it a fresh, clean design, although in some places the type does appear slightly too large.
Cost and practicalities
Reducing the size of the report helped the charity to save on distribution costs.
Horder Healthcare says:
"We produced the report to raise awareness of our organisation, illustrating how Horder Healthcare is evolving into a dynamic healthcare organisation that is truly making an impact on the lives of people in the communities we serve."
