The Association of Charity Shops has named Warren Alexander as its new director.

Alexander, who is chief executive of liver and gut disease charity Core, will take up the post on 2 November.

The association's current director, Lekha Klouda, will retire in January, after Alexander has shadowed her in the post for two months. Klouda founded the organisation in 1999 as the successor to the Charity Shops Group, which she set up in 1993.

Alexander, who has worked in charities for 20 years, said: "I am looking forward to bringing my experience and skills to develop the association and promote its goals and mission."
