Association tackles European issues at grants symposium

The Association of Charitable Foundations is hosting a symposium to encourage British Trusts and Foundations to deal with pan-European issues.

It is the first time that the association has run an event for independent grant-makers from outside the UK. The event will address issues such as the rise of right-wing extremism, and disability and drugs problems that affect European Trusts and Foundations.

"The political landscape is rapidly changing across Europe and it is naive to think that issues that are relevant to local communities in other parts of the continent won't have an impact on the way we work in Britain,

said Bernie Morgan, acting chief executive at the association.

The event, which will be held in London in early October, is a joint initiative between the association, the European Foundation Centre and the European Savings Bank Group, and was designed to improve best practice for trusts and foundations in Europe.
