Barnardo's accepts Open Air payment

Barnardo's was among 25 charities to receive a share of a £125,000 compensation fund after they lost around £900,000 when face-to-face agency Open Air Fundraising went into administration in 2001.

The children's charity has received £20,000 from Open Air Global, the company that bought out the business of Open Air Fundraising, to offset some of the debt left by the original agency. Payments went ahead despite a delay in setting up a charitable trust to process the money.

Several instalments are due to be made over the next two years.
