Bat fan

Local school pupils, dressed up in Halloween costume, help to build bat boxes for the launch of an urban green space regeneration project in Manchester's Levenshulme. The 70-acre site is being regenerated as part of the redevelopment of the Manchester Arndale Centre by the Prudential. BCTV, the conservation charity, is leading the redevelopment project team, creating a picnic area and wildlife habitats for the enjoyment of local people. BCTV's South Manchester project manager Katie Lowry said: "We will be encouraging local schools, volunteers and other community members to take part in a host of activities on the site between now and 2005." As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Prudential supports similar grass-roots projects across the country.
