Big Lottery Fund hands out £10.3m in latest Reaching Communities awards

Programme for deprived areas has handed out £551m in six years

Thirty-seven projects have shared awards totalling £10.3m in the latest batch of funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities programme.

The programme awards grants of between £10,000 and £500,000 for projects in deprived locations, to be used for work in areas such as access to training, improving life skills and helping people become more active.

The programme has given out grants totalling £551m since it began in 2005.

Recipients of the latest tranche include:

- Women’s Work: £483,000

- Framlington & District Volunteer Centre, South Northamptonshire: £466,000

- Blackburn with Darwen Care Services: £434,000

- East Marsh Involve: £399,000

- Straight Talking Peer Education: £297,000.
