Max Woosey, who has been sleeping in a tent for more than a year to raise funds for North Devon Hospice, will tonight spend his 500th night outside.

The 11-year-old has raised more than £600,000 for the charity since his fundraising exploits began in March last year.

He began sleeping out in a tent in his garden after a neighbour, who later died of cancer, gave him a tent to "have an adventure" in.

The hospice supported Woosey’s neighbour during the final stages of his life.

Woosey is expected to be wild camping tonight in a shelter he has built in the woods with his parents and best friend.

He said he had no intention of stopping his sleepout any time soon.
