Breakthrough Breast Cancer to focus on regular donors

New fundraising team planned

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is setting up a team dedicated to building relationships with regular donors.

The move is part of a wider investment programme dedicated to recruiting and keeping donors.

Chris Askew, director of fundraising at the charity, said the new team would focus on "supporter journeys". It will thank donors and suggest further ways they can get involved through fundraising and campaigning, he said.

The team will comprise an as yet undetermined number of staff members relocated from other areas of the charity and led by a new head of supporter care.

"Regular donations are a growing income stream and we are responding to this growth," said Askew. "It's crucial that we have a good mix of income streams."

Donor relations teams are thought still to be relatively rare in charity fundraising departments.
