Breakthrough Breast Cancer has appointed former Red Cross marketing director Jeremy Hughes to be its chief executive.
Hughes, who takes up the post in January, has 20 years' senior management experience with charities including Leonard Cheshire, the Muscular Dystrophy Group and NCH Action for Children. He is currently head of external relations and communications at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Breakthrough's current chief executive, Baroness Delyth Morgan, is leaving to become a working peer, but will continue to be involved with Breakthrough in a non-executive, part-time capacity.
Hughes spent four years as director of marketing and income generation at the British Red Cross, where he was responsible for 700 staff and generated an income of £85m during his tenure.
