Britain's Most Admired Charities 2011: Sponsor's welcome

David McHattie of Barclays salutes the achievements of charities

To have the opportunity to host Britain's Most Admired Charities for the third time running is an honour for Barclays Corporate. Not enough recognition can be given to a sector that is driven primarily by the innovation, commitment and passion of its employees and volunteers.

We are pleased to work alongside Third Sector, celebrating the people and organisations that have delivered exceptional performance. Barclays Corporate is proud to work with many of the organisations and the people nominated, giving us insight into how much time and energy is devoted to their respective charities and the challenges they face.

The past few years have been challenging for charities and, although more people are volunteering their time to charitable work, the economic climate is placing pressure on donations and grants, and more responsibility for vital services is falling on the shoulders of charities. Barclays Corporate has been at the forefront of providing support, funding and advice to the charity sector: our team of dedicated relationship directors is perfectly placed to understand charities, connecting them to the expertise they need. We are committed to working with the sector, and we congratulate the winners and nominees for their outstanding achievements.
