What is the partnership?

The automotive retailer Jardine Motors Group partnered with the children's mobility charity Whizz-Kidz in January 2014. The partnership will last for a minimum of three years and will support disabled children in the communities in which JMG operates by raising money for them and by helping to increase awareness of the challenges they face.

What did the company do?

The company has made all of its 3,000 staff aware of the partnership and included it in its staff induction. It also makes a donation to Whizz-Kidz for every disability vehicle sold. Two vans were donated to Whizz-Kidz' mobile community service, which delivers mobility equipment to families. JMG dealerships have hosted Whizz-Kids events and engineers have donated their time and skills to help restore heritage vehicles for auction.

Why did it win?

The partnership has so far raised £480,000, smashing the original target of £350,000. JMG has supported two residential camps, giving 20 young people the opportunity to learn vital life skills, and 15 wheelchair training schemes, teaching 90 children to use their wheelchairs safely and confidently. Some 66 pieces of mobility equipment have been provided to children. In addition, almost 600 families have been visited using JMG-donated vans. The company estimates that 80 per cent of its workforce have engaged in the partnership and says that it has helped to raise disability awareness among its workforce.

Highly commended
