Who is on the team?

The corporate social responsibility team at the insurance provider NFU Mutual comprises two full-time-equivalent members of staff who are responsible for its charity fundraising. The team is supported by about 30 regional charity representatives at the company who organise local fundraising events on a voluntary basis.

What did it do?

The CSR team was appointed at the end of 2009 and NFU Mutual entered into its first corporate charity partnership in 2010 with the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, a charity that grants wishes to seriously ill children. The team hoped to raise £400,000 over three years.

Why did it win?

The CSR team planned and delivered a series of high-profile fundraising initiatives, which raised £600,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK in 2012. It encouraged members of NFU Mutual's senior management team to get involved with the initiatives and the managers in turn have been very supportive of key events.

What did the judges say?

Natalie Campbell, founder of A Very Good Company, said: "I was very impressed with what has been delivered, considering the size of the team and its resources."
