The Cancer Campaigning Group is calling for an urgent review of the NHS Cancer Plan to improve cancer prevention, care and treatment in the UK.
The coalition of 28 cancer charities, which was established four years ago, launched its campaign for a new national Cancer Plan at an event at Westminster last week.
Arlene Wilkie, chair of the group, said: "The UK still lags behind much of Europe when it comes to cancer survival rates, spending on cancer drugs and access to new cancer treatments. A full review of the Cancer Plan and its aims is needed so that we can look at the future of cancer care.
"Tackling cancer can never be viewed as a complete task, and must remain a Government priority."
