Cochrane has been confirmed in the top role at the trust after 11 months as acting chief executive. She was formerly an assistant director of operations at the charity. The former chief executive was Shan Nicholas, who went to the YWCA as interim chief executive for a period.
"It is estimated that 6,000 people take on caring responsibilities every day, which often leads to a life of poverty, isolation, frustration and ill-health," said Cochrane. "This is a fantastic opportunity to continue to support more carers through our network of centres and websites and make a real difference to carers' lives."
