The Charity Finance Directors' Group has appointed Caron Bradshaw as its next chief executive.

Bradshaw, who is head of the charity and voluntary sector branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, will take up the post in early summer.

She will take over from David Membrey, who has been acting head of the organisation and will return to his previous role of deputy chief executive.

Keith Hickey, the CFDG's previous chief executive, left in October 2009 to become strategic director of resources at the RNIB.

Bradshaw said: "The outlook for the sector over the coming months is likely to be extremely challenging, whoever forms the new government.

"I'm eager to support our members to capitalise on the rich opportunities for charities and their finance directors arising from the current environment."
