Celebrity hoofers

Joanna Lumley as Madam Butterfly was among the celebrities who took to the saddle in historic and dramatic costumes for an exhibition marking the 70th anniversary of the Brooke Hospital for Animals. The 'Stars in their Saddles' photographic exhibition celebrates its work, while a book, 'A Helping Hand', follows the work of the equine welfare charity in developing countries since it was founded in 1934. The charity helps some 500,000 working horses worldwide and the book outlines plans to increase this number eight-fold over the next 10 years. Stars taking part included Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen as Dick Turpin and Coronation Street star Bill Roache as a cavalry officer.
