Centre for sector leaders launched

NCVO and Acevo yesterday jointly launched the Third Sector Leadership Centre, which will provide information and networking events for charity chief executives.

The centre, which will be based at Henley Management Centre, has already developed an online directory that will point charity leaders in the direction of essential resources at both a regional and national level.

There are also plans to establish a national forum that will be free to join and will meet quarterly, offering charity chief executives the opportunity to gather and exchange best practice.

The centre, which is part of the Workforce Hub and is funded by Capacity Builders, will not, however, provide training for chief executives.

"We are not so much a provider as a facilitator and information portal," said Tracy Beasley, manager of the Leadership Centre.

"It follows on from Home Office-funded research in 2003, which found there's a real need to raise the profile of leadership within the sector."
