Changing Faces in transplants debate

Changing Faces is hoping a report released today by the Royal College of Physicians will support its campaign for further debate about facial transplants before the first operation is carried out.

The charity is alarmed at reports that the first transplant patient has been found, and that an operation may happen within six months.

It believes that the ethical and social implications of face transplants, including the long-term emotional and psychological effects on patients and family members, have not been properly examined.
