Charities access social sciences

A website that provides charities with free access to social science research has been launched.

The site has been developed by the Economic and Social Research Council to help inform voluntary sector bodies' policy development.

It gives access to the council's research, and to research by the Office of National Statistics, the UK Data Archive, Europa and the Cabinet Office policy hub.

Charities can register for e-bulletins tailored to their specific interests and for email alerts to notify them when new material is published. They can also take part in online discussions.

The search engine familiarises itself with individuals' preferences and becomes more intuitive the more someone visits the site. See www.esrcsocietytoday. ac.uk.
