Five charities were included in the Financial Times Best Workplaces Report 2006. Asthma UK, which ranked 19th, Diabetes UK (24), London and Quadrant Housing Group (28), the NCVO (31) and the Irwell Valley Housing Association (33) feature in the top 50 list.
The research was carried out by the Great Place to Work Institute, which distributes a questionnaire to a random sample of employees. A total of 109 organisations registered to take part.
The survey includes questions on management competence, the recognition of personal worth and employees' levels of pride and camaraderie.
Andrea Barber, head of human resources at Diabetes UK, said: "We have worked hard to ensure Diabetes UK is a flexible and fulfilling place to work."
