Charities stuck in rut, says Tatchell

Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell will urge charities to be less predictable in their campaigning when he speaks at the NCVO Political Conference today.

"Many voluntary organisations are still stuck in a conventional way of thinking, which lessens their impact," Tatchell, who campaigns on issues such as gay rights, said before the event.

But he warned campaigners not to be controversial for the sake of it. "Stunts need to be followed with well-researched briefings with MPs and face-to-face negotiations," he said.
