Charities unite for Future Jobs Fund bid

Consortium attracts almost 200 members

Almost 200 charities have expressed an interest in taking part in a joint bid led by Futurebuilders England to win a contract under the Future Jobs Fund.

The consortium, which is being organised by Ian Charlesworth, enterprise director at the government-backed loan fund, will submit a bid by 30 June.

The £1bn Future Jobs Fund, which is run by the Department for Work and Pensions, has been set up to help create 150,000 new jobs.

Charlesworth said the consortium's management arm needed to register as a limited company before the application date.

"The next thing we need to do is know what jobs we can provide and where," he said.

The consortium was also intending to put forward an expression of interest by the same date for contracts available under the Government's Flexible New Deal programme, he added.
