A free "charity twinning" service to help small and large charities share fundraising knowledge and experience has been launched today by the online giving platform Charity Choice.
The service will connect staff members from large and small organisations – defined as those with an annual income of more or less than £1.5m – who are able to discuss and improve the services both offer.
The twinning service will only broker relationships and charities will then be left to develop them as they choose.
Three pilot relationships have already been developed between Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice Aid UK; the Fairtrade Foundation and the Orangutan Land Trust ; and the Alzheimer’s Society and Hope for Children.
So far all relationships have involved senior staff but Charity Choice said the programme was open to fundraisers working at any level.
Charity Choice said more senior members of staff at large fundraising organisations had already expressed an interest in taking part. It said it was keen to increase the number of staff from both small and large organisations.
Lynda Thomas, director of fundraising at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: "Charity twinning encourages us to take inspiration from a completely different source – a small charity – and, on the flip side, give something back to the charity community by sharing the wealth of experience we have here in the team."
