Charity Commission reappoints four board members

A fifth has his current term extended for three months

Four Charity Commission board members have been reappointed for second terms, the Office for Civil Society has announced.

Simon Jones and Theo Sowa will serve for a further three years, and Sharmila Nebhrajani and Simon Wethered for a further two years. Andrew Purkis will serve for an extra three months to complete his work before standing down.

A commission spokeswoman said the appointments were of a different length in order to maintain continuity on the board and avoid a situation in which several board members would stand down at the same time.

Nick Hurd, the Minister for Civil Society, said: "These reappointments mean that the Charity Commission is directed by a highly skilled and experienced team well placed to help charities meet the challenges and grasp the opportunities ahead."

They will be paid £350 a day for a minimum of two days’ work a month.
