Charity expenses consultation launched

Body launched by the NCVO and the Charity Finance Directors' Group seeks views on whether and how charities should disclose their expenses

The Independent Expert Group on Expenses has launched a consultation with charities on whether and how they should disclose their expenses.

The group, chaired by former charity commissioner Lindsay Driscoll, was launched by the NCVO and the Charity Finance Directors' Group in June in the wake of the furore over MPs' expenses.

Charities can submit their views by phone (020 7520 2442), email ( or post, or by filling in an online questionnaire.

Driscoll said: "This consultation will give everyone the chance to give their views to us.

"I am looking forward to feedback from a wide range of registered charities so we can make recommendations on how the whole issue of disclosure of expenses can be addressed."

The consultation will run until 30 October. The group aims to publish a report by December.
