For the second year running, eBay for Charity has announced the opening of its Charity Connect programme, a free training course for eBay charity retailers of all sizes and experience levels on how to boost online revenues. The programme, which will help charities upskill digitally in order to increase their fundraising, runs for six months from September.
Following the programme’s huge success last year, eBay for Charity hopes to help even more charities raise unrestricted funds, after what has been a very difficult 17 months for the sector. Alumni from last year’s programme have spoken of the positive impact the training has had on their fundraising. Selina Taylor, retail gift aid officer at Marie Curie, says, “I would tell any charity considering taking part in the training that it’s definitely something small teams should be dedicating time to. It’s just an hour every week, but you will notice an uplift in your sales almost immediately, and you’ll be really surprised at how much you can learn from it.”
“Charity Connect has really given us the confidence to invest more money into our eBay operations,” she continues. “As we’ve seen the amazing results come through and our sales increasing all the time, we’ve now got the reassurance to pursue virtual avenues more confidently going forward.’’
From Marie Curie finishing the year with double the revenue they had taken in previous years, to small autism charity Daisy Chain setting up on eBay for the very first time, the Charity Connect programme has benefitted hundreds of charities in boosting their overall fundraising through tools and advice from dedicated trainers.
Charities who secure a place on the programme will receive tailored training through virtual one-to-one and group support sessions, webinars, e-learning materials and dedicated support on customer service and promotional activities.
