Third Sector Promotion Markel

At the recent Third Sector Awards specialist insurer, Markel, had the opportunity to speak to charities about the risks they face and how they manage them.

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is an animal shelter that provides care for animals in need of help until an owner or a new home can be found.

Claire Horton chief executive of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home explained the importance of risk management for the charity.

In this video Claire explains how the charity has to manage a wide range of risks including governance, familiarity with charity law, working with agencies, sustaining income and managing data.

As an emerging risk cyber and data protection is particularly important and should be an area of discussion for all charity board meetings.

In a recent survey with Third Sector Insight over 200 senior charity employees were asked how prepared their charity is against cyber and data risks. Find out more about the cyber and data survey.
