Christian Council is 'cover for BNP'

Several voluntary organisations have accused the British National Party of setting up a bogus Christian front organisation.

Anti racism and Christian organisations claimed the right-wing party established the Christian Council of Britain to gain respectability ahead of tomorrow’s local elections.

The Council first made itself known at a recent protest organised by Christian Voice outside De Montfort Hall, Leicester, where the controversial Jerry Springer: The Opera was being performed.

Christian Voice immediately distanced itself from the Council, which it described as a “racial separatist front for the BNP”.

The BNP admits on its website that it helped to set up the Council but claims it is a separate organisation.

Dr Attaullah Siddiqui, a researcher at the Islamic Foundation said: “It is important that it is exposed for what it is before any unsuspecting members of the public are taken in by it.”
