Comic Relief sets up new communications department

Comic Relief has created a new communications department to provide all of the charity's creative output.

The division, described by Comic Relief as an "in-house ideas lab", will cover broadcast, print, digital and experience-based communications. It will also provide communications services to the charity's partners.

Chris Ward, founder of marketing agencies Beatwax and Firstmovies, will head the unit.

He said it would create "mass-market ideas".

The department is now working on branding for Red Nose Day 2009, maternal health coalition the White Ribbon Alliance and mental health campaign Moving People Forward.
