COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: Barnardo's lobbies to raise profile of children in poverty

A national campaign to drive uptake of disability benefits for families of disabled children will go ahead next year if children's charity Barnardo's gets its way.

The charity, which is now campaigning around the two key issues of disabled children and health inequalities, wants the Government to co-ordinate the campaign which would run locally and nationally.

The charity is targeting all party conferences this autumn with literature on disabled children and poverty and its latest research, which shows that two out of three families with disabled children are in the bottom 40 per cent income band.

The report, Still Missing Out, has been sent to specialist advisers and MPs, and has been picked up by the national press.
