Communications News: Bearing fruit

The World Cancer Research Fund has hailed last month's Fruity Friday awareness campaign, which highlighted the benefits of eating more fruit and vegetables to reduce the risk of cancer, as a success. The campaign was backed by Minister for Health Melanie Johnson, who helped to promote the 14 May campaign. Nina Roman, the fund's PR manager, said: "The amount of local and national coverage was great. We made a concerted effort to reach everyone in the UK and feel we've gone some way to achieving that." The campaign featured on more than 10 local radio stations, in The Times, The Sun and Metro newspapers, and in a range of regional press and health magazines.
