COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: Employers support campaign to recruit disabled workforce

More than 100 organisations have signed up to a campaign by Remploy to increase the employment of disabled people.

Remploy, a charity which is the UK's largest employer of disabled people, launched the "Double the Opportunities" campaign in January, exhorting employers to double the number of disabled staff.

Signatories include HBOS bank, Matalan, Surrey and South Wales Police, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency in Swansea and several NHS trusts.

Stuart Knowles, general manager of Remploy Interwork, said: "This shows that companies and organisations are increasingly aware of the positive contribution which disabled people can make to their organisations."
