COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: Feed the Minds set to promote literacy in developing world

Christian charity Feed the Minds has launched a campaign to promote the importance of literacy in developing countries.

Reaping Learning began on 8 September to coincide with the United Nations International Literacy Day.

The three-month campaign, much of which is directed at young people, involves sending a resource pack to churches, schools and community groups, and will receive coverage in Christian newspapers.

Gareth Squire, director of fundraising and communications at Feed the Minds, said: "We want to take this chance to promote learning as a long-term solution to stop the cycle of poverty in the third world by educating people about agriculture, hygiene, AIDS awareness and basic human rights."
