Hilda Taylor celebrates as she is named Age Concern's Grandparent of the Year 2003. The award was presented to Taylor by GMTV presenter Andrea McClean (right) at a ceremony at BAFTA's London headquarters last week. The award aims to heighten awareness of the importance of grandparents in family life and was launched to help Age Concern break the stereotype that old people do not have a role to play in their community. The awards will also help Age Concern promote its research that found 75 per cent of British grandparents have a clearly defined part to play in their grandchildrens' upbringing.
