A booklet designed to give girls more information about Aids and how it is spread has been launched by Girlguiding UK and development charity ActionAid.
The booklet, Action on Aids, is being circulated to 1,200 Guide leaders across the country. It features activities that Guides can use to learn more about Aids and how it affects people in both the developed and developing world.
Liz Lee, project co-ordinator in the international team at Girlguiding UK, said: "Young women currently have very few basic facts about Aids, so we wanted to give something small on it to all Guides.
"We also wanted to include some facts about the UK, to make people realise it could happen to them. The booklet will help Guides raise and discuss the subject in a safe environment, and expand their own knowledge and understanding of some of the issues."
The booklet also includes case studies on countries including Kenya, Zambia, the UK and Vietnam, and what Guides have been doing in those countries.
Girlguiding UK hopes more than 18,000 Girl Guides will see a copy, or participate in its activities.
