Communications News: Green conference held to raise media profile for charities

The UK's first conference to help conservation and environmental charities get their messages covered by the media was held in Bristol last week.

Winnie De'ath, head of communications at WWF, which sponsored day two of the three-day Communicate conference, said raising the profile of environmental issues was the main item of concern that delegates had wanted to address.

Representatives from the media, academia and the public and private sectors discussed the challenges inherent in communicating conservation, tailoring messages to specific audiences, and how to take environmental messages to policy makers.

The conference was organised by the Bristol Natural History Consortium.
