Communications News: Lung Foundation in celebratory appeal to mark its birthday

The British Lung Foundation is to launch a year-long campaign called Love Your Lungs to celebrate its 20th birthday next year.

The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness that exercise keeps the lungs healthy and will focus on what people can do to protect them.

As part of the celebrations, the foundation is encouraging people to raise sponsorship by doing whatever it takes to 'Get Breathless'.

There are plans to kick-start the 'Get Breathless' campaign at a landmark building in central London, which is yet to be decided. Supporters will take part by walking to the top of the building.

Dame Helena Shovelton, the foundation's chief executive, said: "We want to use 'Love Your Lungs' to reach the wider public audience who want to stay healthy."
