COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: Macmillan opts for surgeries in drive to promote helpline

Macmillan Cancer Relief is aiming to increase public awareness of its cancer support line by sending out 90,000 fact sheets to 4,000 GP surgeries from this week.

Each sheet contains calling cards for the service and will be sent over the next three months to all surgeries belonging to the 'information for patients' distribution service, which is used by Macmillan and other charity information suppliers.

The helpline provides answers to common cancer-related questions such as where to find local support groups, how to get hold of information leaflets and how to get help from a Macmillan nurse.
