Learning disability charity Mencap has launched an online survey to gather the experiences of families caring for an adult or child with severe learning difficulties.
The survey is part of the charity's new e-campaign, aimed at supporting families facing issues around mental health. The data collected will be used in a report on support for carers, to be published during National Learning Disability Week next month.
"Mencap has found that many families are nearing breaking point because of a failure by social services to provide support," a spokesperson said.
The web-based Breaking Point campaign also allows the charity's supporters to directly email their MP to encourage support for the campaign, and provides information about learning difficulties and case studies of carers' lives.
The web design and editorial were handled in-house, but Mencap contracted consultancy Advocacy Online to provide the MP database and emailing function.
