COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: NCH teams up with bank to run money awareness course

NCH has teamed up with the Yorkshire Bank to initiate an education programme designed to improve young people's financial savvy.

'Money & Me', funded by the bank's donation of £42,000, will educate and advise children from 500 NCH projects across England, Wales and Scotland during 2004.

Advice packs will be distributed, and real-life scenarios and creative exercises will be used to bring the subject to life.

Despite being aimed largely at young people aged seven to 18, NCH also plans to offer the project to adults struggling with finances.

Nigel Harper, director of children's services for NCH North East, said: " For young care leavers and families living on a low income, being able to manage money is vital and can be an additional challenge to them."
