COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: Parent group gives out tips on summer holiday child care

Support charity Parentline Plus has issued a series of 'top tips' to help separated parents who face difficulties this summer in arranging contact time and holidays with their children.

The tips, which are being promoted on the charity's web site and through a free helpline, are designed to help relieve the stress of negotiating child contact during the summer.

"The holidays can intensify problems around contact and child care arrangements," said chief executive Dorit Braun. "The wider family can be a great source of support during the summer, so the tips are intended for all the family, not just mums and dads."

The tips advise parents not to use access to children as a bargaining ploy and not to compete with treats and presents.
