COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: Prince's Trust uses Deeley as face of youth writer awards

TV star Cat Deeley has agreed to be the face of a Prince's Trust campaign, which last year achieved coverage in 300 newspapers.

The Local Reporting Awards 2003, run in conjunction with the Newspaper Society, encourages writers aged under 30 to submit inspiring community stories to their local newspaper.

The awards provide newspapers with tales of unsung local heroes while giving young people the chance to have their work published, which fits neatly with the trust's purpose of offering opportunities to 14 to 30-year-olds.

This year's awards include, for the first time, a category for non-professional writers, which enables charities to submit their own entries.
