A pro-choice charity has created its most extensive teaching resource to be used in schools' citizenship and sex-education lessons.
Education for Choice launched the kit at its first seminar on young people and abortion last week.
The 200-page document, Abortion, Rights, Responsibilities and Reason, includes teaching plans, fact sheets and topics for discussion.
Vicky Berry, the charity's director, said: "Part of the resource uses the theme of abortion to explore citizenship courses that look at how laws are made and how people can understand the process of campaigning on a political issue."
She added that the recent Sunday Telegraph investigation into referrals to a Spanish clinic by another pro-choice charity, BPAS, (Third Sector, 13 October) shows the need for teaching materials.
