Manchester United trio David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane have lent their support to Shades for a Day, a Guide Dogs for the Blind Association initiative to promote eye care. Keane, who supports Irish Guide Dogs, used his persuasive charm to enlist the support of his team-mates. The event, which takes place on 15 July, encourages schoolchildren to don sunglasses and learn about the dangers of overexposure to ultraviolet rays. Students donate £1 to wear their shades, which is divided between their school and the charity. Guide Dogs spokesman Chris Dyson said: "The event aims to show people we are a campaigning charity that is about much more than giving guide dogs to people."
